Way to play the boss’s head like a bongo, Homer!

This looks like a lot of fun. Ototo is a small synthesizer which allows you to connect various sensors, including capacitive touch sensors (similar to the touchscreen on a phone or tablet) to control the output. The fun part is that the sensors can be attached to other objects to create new instruments in any way you see fit. It’s a standalone device powered by batteries or USB which makes it highly portable and seems incredibly easy to use. There’s no programming knowledge required so it may be easier to use than arduino for similar projects. It can also be used as a MIDI trigger and I can imagine would be pretty great as a controller for more complex MAX/MSP patches.
